Obiturary of Elton Wayne Howe, Jr.

Elton W. Howe, Jr., 88, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Louise Howe. Mr. Howe was born August 7, 1921 in Madison Hills, OH, son of Elton W. Howe, Sr., and Josephine Steinkamp Howe, of Columbus, who preceded him in death. He also is preceded in death by his brother William Henry Howe and his wife Marjorie of Raleigh, NC. He was a 1939 graduate of North High School, and a 1948 graduate of the Ohio State University. Served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942-44, as a gunner on a B-17. He had a distinguished 38 year career with Motorists Insurance in Columbus, retiring in 1986. Mr. Howe is survived by two sons, Elton W. Howe, III, of Columbus, and Phillip M. Howe (Kate) of Irmo, SC; two daughters, Patricia (D. Ward) Tilton of Dayton and Christine L. (David) Miller of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Amanda M. Howe, Nicole L. Tilton and Mathew Tilton; a sister-in-law, Evelyn (Jim) Melton of Pekin, IL; two nieces and two nephews.
