A. L. Snedden Dies at 71
A. L. Snedden, 71, of Athens Rout 1, died early Thursday morning after an illness of thee and a half years.
Born in Meigs County, son of the lage John R. and Almira Snedden, he spent most of his life in Athens County, A cola miner ofr 35 years, he was later custodian at Ohio University's Chubb library for 12 years, retiring in July, 1954.
Mr. Snedden, a member of the Union Methodist Church wrote a column "Snedden on the Hill" for The Messenger for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie E. Snedden, two daughters, Mrs. May Ellen Rowland, Athens Route 2 and Mrs. martha McPherson, Columbus four sons, the Rev. John I. Snedden, Athens, Owen L., Kyril and Robert S. Snedden, all of Athens Route 1.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Alice Tritipo, Athens, and Mrs. Adda Briley, Mt. Clemens, Mich. Another daughter, Margaret, died previously.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Dowler-Ferguson-Hughes funeral home.
